The incident occurred in Tilden Fulani, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where youths expressed anger over what they described as neglect and abandonment by the senator after working hard for his victory in the 2023 general elections.

Supporters of Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC), have voiced their discontent with the senator.

The incident occurred in Tilden Fulani, Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where youths expressed anger over what they described as neglect and abandonment by the senator after working hard for his victory in the 2023 general elections.

The situation escalated on Saturday when the youths tore the photograph on the senator’s banner in protest, Daily Post reports.

An eyewitness explained that the youths had learned that Senator Buba was passing through the area. They blocked the road and demanded he stop to address them.

The senator, however, reportedly refused to engage with the youths, instructing his security detail to clear the road for his convoy.

According to the report, this action led to a brief confrontation, during which one of the youths was reportedly injured. The injured individual is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

Another resident, who also wished to remain anonymous, criticised the senator’s approach to handling the situation.

He stated, “How Sen. Shehu Buba Umar treated his supporters in Tilden Fulani today is unacceptable.

“His decision to have the road cleared by security forces instead of engaging with his supporters led to an unfortunate injury. We demand an apology from him for this mistreatment.”

Efforts made by the newspaper to get a reaction from the senator or his representatives failed as he did not answer his calls. He also did not reply to messages sent to his mobile phone.
