Your first steps are correct, I’m impressed — Ex-governor Peter Odili tells Fubara
At the 3rd Convocation and 6th Founders’ Day ceremonies of Pamo University of Medical Sciences, former Governor Peter Odili lauded the strides of current Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Expressing confidence in Fubara’s potential for success, Odili emphasized the significance of the initial steps taken by the new governor.
“Governor Fubara has hit the ground running,” remarked Dr. Odili. “A good dance begins with the first step. Your first steps are correct. There is no doubt that you will dance well.”
Dr. Odili, who governed Rivers State from 1999 to 2007, conveyed satisfaction with Fubara’s decisions since his inauguration in May, pointing to a promising trajectory for the state under Fubara’s leadership.
However, amidst these positive sentiments, the state faces a challenging political atmosphere characterized by the rift between Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara.
The tension culminated in 27 lawmakers defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), with President Bola Tinubu stepping in to mediate between the opposing factions on Monday.
Despite these political tensions, Odili remains optimistic about Governor Fubara’s capabilities, acknowledging the difficulties inherent in governance while assuring continued support through prayers for Fubara’s success.
