A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Olutayo Victor has applauded the yeoman’s performance of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Olutayo in a statement on Tuesday issued to newsmen described Tunji-Ojo as an achiever who had changed the erroneously held narratives about the Ministry, adding that Tunji-Ojo has made Ondo residents proud.
The statement reads, “I, Olutayo Yomi Victor, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, proudly commend the exemplary leadership and remarkable achievements of our esteemed Interior Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
“His tenure has not only transformed the Ministry of Interior but has also brought immense pride to Ondo State.
“Upon assuming office, Dr. Tunji-Ojo addressed the longstanding backlog of 204,332 passport applications within just three weeks, streamlining the process for countless Nigerians.
“He further introduced user-friendly e-platforms for visa applications, allowing applicants to upload passport photographs via the immigration portal, thereby enhancing accessibility and convenience.
“In a significant move to decongest correctional facilities, Dr. Tunji-Ojo facilitated the release of over 4,000 inmates who had served various terms or were unable to pay fines.
“By raising over N500 million through strategic partnerships with the private sector, he provided these individuals with a second chance, demonstrating his commitment to justice and rehabilitation.
“Understanding the critical role of agriculture in our nation’s economy, Dr. Tunji-Ojo deployed 10,000 Agro Rangers across 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“This initiative aims to protect farmlands and shield farmers from prevailing threats, ensuring food security and fostering economic growth.
“At the Nigerian Correctional Service, Dr. Tunji-Ojo launched the “Rehabilitation and Reintegration Initiative,” resulting in a 20% reduction in recidivism rates. He also introduced the “Digital Case Management System,” streamlining case management and reducing delays. Notably, the Kuje Medium Custodial Center underwent a comprehensive overhaul under his leadership, transforming it into a modern, state-of-the-art correctional facility.
“Beyond his official duties, Dr. Tunji-Ojo has remained committed to youth empowerment, creating numerous job opportunities and skill acquisition programs for young people in Ondo State.
“Through various initiatives, he has supported entrepreneurship, training, and mentorship programs, ensuring that our youths are well-equipped for the future. His efforts have provided a solid foundation for economic independence among young people, reinforcing his passion for human capital development.
“His accomplishments serve as a beacon of excellence, and we, the people of Ondo State, celebrate his contributions that have elevated our state’s prominence on the national stage.
