Nigeria’s mining sector has received a significant boost with the commissioning of the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency’s (NGSA) Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS) Laboratory. This state-of-the-art facility is expected to enhance the NGSA’s capacity to provide accurate and reliable data on Nigeria’s mineral resources, attracting investors and stimulating economic growth in the mining sector.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda has been instrumental in transforming Nigeria’s mining sector, earning praise from women in mining, academicians, and other stakeholders. HRH Queen Mother Amb. Amina Temitope Labinjo Ajayi, JP, also known as “Mama Diaspora,” commended President Tinubu’s policy, stating that it has positioned Nigeria to drive a huge economy and become a key player in the global mining industry.

The SV-NED Mining Company Chairman /CEO, However, appeals to the NGSA on behalf of the women in mining for a 50% discount in their ICP-MS sampling test.

The ICP-MS laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge technology that enables the accurate analysis of minerals and rocks.

This technology has various applications, including Environmental Monitoring, Geological Surveys, Quality Control*, and Research and Development.

The Minister of Solid Minerals development , Hon. Dele Alake, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mary Ogbe, commissioned the ICP-MS laboratory, emphasizing the need for constant training and retraining of staff to ensure the facility’s long-term sustainability.

The Director General of NGSA, Prof. Olusegun Ige, appreciated the efforts of stakeholders, acknowledging President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda as a game-changer in the mining industry.

The commissioning of the ICP-MS laboratory is a significant milestone in Nigeria’s mining sector, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy.

As President Tinubu noted, the mining sector has the potential to be a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economic future, driving sustainable economic growth and prosperity.
