Wike’s Allies Received Rivers Sole Administrator In Govt House– Report
The newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has assumed office in the crisis-ridden state after a brief press conference at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
Ibas arrived Thursday afternoon, accompanied by allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, while loyalists of suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara were noticeably absent.
Among those present was Mr. Ojukaye Flag Amachree, Director of Energy Security and former Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Council under Wike’s administration, who was seen coordinating movements at the Government House.
Speaking briefly, Ibas noted that he was meeting with the Head of Service, permanent secretaries, and security commanders for formal briefings as he settled into his role.
He assured that Port Harcourt remained calm and emphasized his commitment to restoring stability in the state.
“I want to thank you (press) for what you have been doing so far. You are all aware I just got in here and decided to meet with the head of the service and the permanent secretaries and the service commanders to get formal briefings,” he said.
“It is proper for me to have something to say to you all thereafter. I assure you that this evening, I will address you and the issues you may want to raise now.
“Port Harcourt is calm; all we want is for the city to get back to where it has always been.”
