Why You Should Not Check Your Spouse’s Phones – Kwankwaso Advises Couples At Kano Mass Wedding
Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the National Leader of NNPP, has advised the 1,800 couples participating in the mass wedding scheme to refrain from checking their spouses’ phones.
He emphasized that doing so could potentially strain their marriages and lead to breakups.
Kwankwaso made these remarks during the reception organized by the State Government for the couples at the Open Theatre in Kano Government House on Saturday.
He highlighted that scrutinizing each other’s phones has been a significant factor in causing marital discord, and therefore urged couples to avoid engaging in such behavior.
“You have been advised by all and sundry. I believe you have been advised a thousand times. Ulamas, parents, relatives and even business people have advised you on how to live peacefully with one another.
“But, I have one single advice for you; that is checking spouses’ phones. Don’t peep your spouses’ phones as that is the major cause of marriage breakup these days,” he said.
Kwankwaso praised Governor Abba Yusuf for his unwavering political dedication in making the mass wedding scheme a reality.
Additionally, he applauded the administration for allocating over N700 million to support more than 600 students in pursuing higher education abroad.
“We have made the right choice by electing Governor Abba Yusuf as our governor. He is a good leader who had continued with our legacies. One of such of legacies is this mass wedding.
“Apart from this, he is delivering mass oriented projects. We call on the good people of Kano state to support his administration,” he said.
Earlier, Yusuf explained that the selected couples for the mass wedding were chosen from all 44 local government areas and the 484 wards within the state. He detailed that no fewer than 30 couples were selected from each of the 44 local government areas.
The governor clarified that the state took complete responsibility for the wedding, covering dowry, providing furniture, wedding essentials, and granting the brides N20,000 to kickstart small-scale businesses within their new homes.
He encouraged the couples to lead a harmonious life in accordance with Islamic teachings.
In his welcome address, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, the Commander General of the Kano Hisbah Board, stated that on Friday, no fewer than 1,500 couples entered into wedlock. However, Daurawa revealed that out of the 1,800 couples, the weddings of 264 have been postponed as they tested positive for certain ailments and were currently undergoing medical treatment.
He explained that once they’ve completed their treatment, a new date will be set for the remaining 264 couples’ weddings.
The Islamic cleric emphasized that the wedding scheme followed a transparent and due process, and commended the state government for this benevolent initiative. He also offered prayers for the couples to have a lasting and joyous marital union, and urged them to uphold the fear of God in their interactions with one another.
