WHY JORDAN BRIDGE NEEDS TO BE RECONSTRUCTED TO PREVENT FUTURE ACCIDENTS AND AVERT FLOODING – PRINCE ORIADE ADEBAWO
In a recent visit to the Jordan Bridge at Oke Odunwo in Ondo by Prince. Hon Oriade Wellington Adebawo and Ondo State Progressive Activators(OSPA) on Sunday 15th September 2024, it was observed that the bridge is in poor condition. Caution tape needs to be placed to warn people about the unsafe portion of the bridge. The bridge also needs urgent attention, especially with the upcoming rainy season, which could lead to flooding and more accidents.
SA on Emergency Response has informed the commissioner of Chieftancy and Government Affairs, Hon. Takuro about the situation, and they have assured that the necessary steps will be taken to address the issue.
Residents have also pointed out that the main problem with the bridge is that the drainage system is blocked.
They suggest that the best solution would be to rebuild the bridge to better handle the river’s flow.
There were talks of protests to stop the reopening of the bridge, but Prince Oraide has urged the residents to allow the drainage clearing work to continue.
