Why I Accepted Akpabio’s Victory – Yari
Former Governor of Zamafara State, Abdulaziz Yari, yesterday, said he conceded defeat to Senate President Godswill Akpabio because “it is the decision of God.”
He assured him of full support to facilitate peace and harmony, as well as strengthen the upper legislative chamber.
In an interview with journalists in Abuja, Yari noted that as a Muslim, he believes that only God gives power, adding: “So I have no reason not to accept God’s decision.”
The representative of Zamfara West in the National Assembly pledged to work with Akpabio and other lawmakers to make President Bola Tinubu’s administration succeed.
He dismissed widespread speculations that he would have worked against the Federal Government if he had secured the Senate presidency.
“Having worked and campaigned seriously as a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to get Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu elected as President, how would I turn around to want to bring his government down?” Yari queried.
On the alleged imposition of the leadership of the 10th National Assembly on Nigeria, the Zamfara State ex-helmsman said he doesn’t believe in that.
