“What’s The Essence Of Certificate When I’m Dragging Jobs With Illiterates” – Reaction As Man Burns Certificates (Video)
A Nigerian graduate has burnt all his certificates while lamenting about how “useless” education has become in Nigeria.
The man, who graduated from Ajayi Crowther University, said it has been almost 14 years since he graduated from University yet he has never gotten a job with his certificate.
He explained that the jobs he got were ones where he did not need to show his economic qualifications.
He also pointed out that to get most of those jobs, he had to fight for them alongside people who did not go to school.
“What is the essence of a certificate when I’m dragging jobs with illiterates,” he asked.
He added that the certificate is also not useful when Nigerians travel out because they are expected to take qualifying exams abroad to prove themselves.
“Even to be president now, you can forge certificate, ” he said.
He concluded that people are better off learning a skill or trade.
He then proceeded to set all his certificates – from primary school to university and NYSC certificates – ablaze.
