What went down with braless actresses, aunty Ngozi and others
A lot went down on social media last weekend regarding the bra-less babes’ saga which erupted at the audition of veteran actress, Ngozi Ezeonu. In fact, all through the week, the matter topped discussion in the media.
As you already know, the ladies involved appeared for the audition without wearing brazier and Aunty Ngozi wasted no time in trashing them with the power of the tongue. That’s right! So why has she been dragged up and down social media? Were those young girls right by dressing in a manner that made their pointers distract the screen Diva? Common, think about this, why do these GenZ despise brazier? Is there a motive or they’re just not comfortable with it?
You know, this reminds me of how almost all the young girls who attended an art exhibition a few years ago at Freedom Park Lagos, turned up without bras. To top it all, half of them smoked all through the event. I recall doing a piece on that. Even the heavily endowed among them didn’t think it was necessary to wear a bra. It was like they had a meeting not to wear a bra before turning up for that exhibition.
While people like elegant aunty Yeni Kuti (YK), thought aunty Ngozi didn’t get it right, outspoken and agile actress, Kate Hensaw thanked her for trying to get the young ones in line.
”It wasn’t any of her business… As old people, we tend to forget what we did in our youth…” Yeni Kuti said during a Television programme.
But one eloquent Alhaja among the discussants on that show, disagreed with aunty YK. She asked a pertinent question, “If they were going for an interview, would they show up without a bra? Well, she better know that these girls can do anything. But, let’s get this right, if you did the same or worse in your youth, does that make it okay for our children to do the same? Is the world today the same with yesterday?
Many are happy with sister Kate Henshaw who slammed the younger generation for their lack of respect and professionalism. Theinfong posted her viral comment on Facebook with the caption, “Actress, Kate Henshaw Defends Veteran Colleague Ngozi Ezeonu Amidst Dress Code Controversy”
Part of the post reads, “Let me smile first because I don’t want to get angry. You children of nowadays, you have no respect anymore. So, it’s somebody like Aunty Ngozi Ezeonu that you people are opening your mouth talking yin, yin, yin, yin, yin, yin. About a year ago, maybe two years ago, I did a video about those of you that didn’t like to wear bras. I don’t know what bra did to you. You just want to jingle jangle everywhere. That’s okay. That’s on you. But if you’re going somewhere for an interview, an audition is an interview for a role, you don’t dress as if you’re going down the road to buy milk and sugar with groundnut to eat your Ijebu gari in the house. No! I don’t blame them. I blame us for making entry so easy. This is a profession that has aunty Joke, RMD, Ego Boyo, aunty Ngozi Ezeonu, aunty Patience, aunty Taiwo, the late Sam Loco Efe, so many greats, greats, and you people just enter, just kpai kpai, kpai kpai, speaking, balderdash. If they don’t teach you at home, you’ll be taught outside. Then someone on X app was saying, eh, she’s not their mother or family member, to tell them how to dress. You don’t want to dress well, stay at home. She has every right to tell you that she doesn’t want to see this kind of dressing at her audition, and so it should be…A word is enough for the wise.”
A lady made a video on Reallife TV, a page on facebook, slamming Aunty Ngozi for scolding the girls. She said they were not busty and so didn’t need a bra; that bras are meant for older women whose boobs are flat. And that the veteran actress should have focused on their talents instead. I tell you, commenters trashed this lady. Just take a look. Uzezi Jokpa wrote, “Keep quiet, people like una na him dey cast Nigeria so. She is a real mother. Good home training. To slap you just dey hungry me.”
Scholar Egwim wrote, “Madam we are Africans, permit me to ask, what is bra meant for and who are bras meant for? Why will a grown up with breasts on her chest go out without a bra?”
Doreen Ezewu wrote, “Madam on this, your analysis no follow. It is high time they told them the truth. It’s becoming something else here in Nigeria.”
Esomonu Uche reacted, “At your age Just imagine what you are saying. I’m disappointed.”
Godsent Gilbert commented, “I wonder the shame on your husband and family face right now. I pity your husband, I swear.”
Dtimi Onyemelu said, “It is not decent, will you go to a bank looking for a job without a bra?”
Daniel Onwuna wrote, “Please you are totally wrong! Those two girls were not the only girls that came for that audition to be singled out. Their dressing was inappropriate!”
Sunday Ogbole reacted, “Bring down this post madam or I will report your page. Na una type dey spoil children’s life. She rebuked them publicly as correction. You expect her to take them to the corner for advice, right? No let this facebook money make u see green call am red!”

Ngozi na your mate? She dey bring those days how dem dey train kids, no bi nowadays mothers dey even push their kids to go find man. So, shut up if you no get waiting to talk. You dey find wetin you want use trend.”
Osaro best reacted, “Your voice shows you are a spoiled lady; no morals.” Uduimo Godwin wrote, “Do you mean this or you just need engagement? If you actually meant it, I don’t think you talk like a responsible mother; that’s if you are one ooo.”
