We will reclaim power from ruling Party in 2027— PDP Governors threaten APC
State governors from Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have pledged to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
They have criticized the APC for its poor governance, which they argue has exacerbated economic hardship and made daily life increasingly difficult for Nigerians.
The declaration was made by the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, at a Gala Night held in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The event was organized by the host governor to honor the Forum.
Governor Mohammed reiterated the PDP’s commitment to restoring Nigeria’s economic stability and security if they return to power.
He noted that the PDP is well-equipped to address the nation’s challenges, citing its previous governance before losing power in 2015. He criticized the APC for dismantling the progress made by the PDP during its 16 years in office.
In his address to fellow PDP governors, Mohammed outlined the party’s vision for a revitalized Nigeria and urged them to implement this vision in their states to gain public trust.
He stressed the importance of a unified approach to tackling Nigeria’s economic and security issues, which he attributes to the APC’s mismanagement.
This statement comes amid growing concerns about Nigeria’s economic downturn and rising insecurity, which have contributed to national instability.
Governor Mohammed emphasized that the PDP has ambitious plans to enhance Nigeria’s standing on the African continent, positioning it as the country’s largest political party.
The Gala Night, part of the 2024 4th PDP Governors Forum Meeting, served as a platform for the governors to reaffirm their dedication to Nigeria’s progress and address internal party issues.
