Veteran Journalist Breaks Barriers, Joins Legal Profession at 66
Gifty Afenyi Dadzie, a veteran 66-year-old Ghanaian journalist and former President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), recently celebrated a significant milestone as she was called to the Bar.
Joining a cohort of 182 newly qualified lawyers inducted into the legal profession on Friday, May 31, 2024, Dadzie took to Facebook on Sunday, June 2, to share her joy and offer words of encouragement to others, especially women, not to relent in pursuing their dreams regardless of age.
“Celebrating the goodness of God for the opportunity to live my life-long dream,” she wrote, expressing gratitude for achieving her aspiration to become a lawyer.
Dadzie’s journey to the Bar was marked by unwavering determination, as she emphasized that age and gender should never hinder one’s path to success. “Age should never be a barrier to success, and neither should your gender,” she remarked, urging aspiring individuals, particularly young women, to pursue their aspirations relentlessly.
In an interview following her induction, Dadzie highlighted the significance of her legal education in contributing to Ghana’s democracy. Having embarked on her legal studies at the University of London and later pursued post-call training at the Ghana School of Law, Dadzie acknowledged the challenges she encountered on her journey to the Bar, particularly given her age.
Despite the difficulties, Dadzie’s determination and commitment to her goals have culminated in her admission to the legal profession, affirming her belief in the power of perseverance and faith.
