UNIMED New Registrar Faces Corruption, Forgery, and Misconduct Allegations.
The Concerned Ondo Indigenes against corruption have called on the newly appointed Registrar of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Mr. Imoleayo Adeniran, to address allegations of corruption, forgery, sexual harassment, and professional misconduct leveled against him.
In a statement released by its convener, Mr. Love Olawumi, the group alleged that Mr. Adeniran secured his position through an illegally orchestrated interview process facilitated by the UNIMED Governing Council and management led by the duo Prof Ayo Arowojolu and Prof Segun Fatusi, raising concerns about the transparency of the appointment amidst Court injunctions.
According to the group, during his tenure as an administrative officer at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba (AAUA), Mr. Adeniran misappropriated millions of Naira allocated for overseas training. Instead of attending the program, he reportedly submitted forged documents and receipts to cover his actions. The group claimed that investigations by AAUA authorities uncovered the fraud through a high-powered investigative panel, which was set up to unravel the misery behind his criminal act.
Mr. Olawumi further alleged that Mr. Adeniran Imoleayo was involved in a case of sexual harassment and intimidation of a female staff member at UNIMED. The matter was reportedly suppressed by the UNIMED Governing Council and its management after it was reported. The statement claimed that in an apparent effort to frustrate the staff member, she was subjected to five postings within seven months, with changed designations and cadre amidst general outcry by staff.
The Concerned Ondo state Indigenes against corruption questioned the Governing Council’s failure to conduct proper background checks and its alleged complicity in covering up these incidents.
The growing controversy has fueled calls for an independent investigation to examine the integrity and competence of Mr. Adeniran’s appointment and to assess governance practices at the university.
