Unending tension ahead of Tinubu’s inauguration as National Assembly told to extend Buhari’s tenure
On Wednesday, Chuks Ibegbu, former spokesperson for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, proposed that the National Assembly prolong President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure by three months.
Ibegbu requested that the National Assembly invoke the doctrine of necessity’ rules in order to extend Buhari’s term in office. He claimed that President-elect Bola Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29 was not sacrosanct.
Chatting with DAILY POST, Ibegbu said: “The National Assembly should make a resolution to extend Buhari’s tenure by three months as nothing is sacrosanct about MAY 29.
“In fact, MAY 29 is a minus in the history of Nigeria as it stands for past tragedies in Nigeria’s history. We should go back to October, but the doctrine of necessity can be adopted in three months, and the heavens will not fall

A new government in Nigeria should conduct the projected national census instead of the federal government, according to the former Ohaneze National Publicity Secretary.
Ibegbu forewarned that such an activity would be excessively divisive and harmful to the country at this time.
Additionally, he suggested that all legal proceedings pertaining to election concerns be concluded before political officials were sworn in, emphasizing that it would be “distracting to such officers if they are sworn in and court cases against them persist.”
