Ukraine Imposes Fresh Sanctions On Russian Companies, Citizens
President Zelenskyy, who announced the imposition of the sanctions during a national broadcast, vowed that Ukraine will ensure that the sanctions are coordinated with those of its partners, including those against Russia’s aviation infrastructure.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday announced the imposition of sanctions on Russian companies and citizens who are working in the interests of the “aggressor state” and helping it evade accountability for the war.
President Zelenskyy, who announced the imposition of the sanctions during a national broadcast, vowed that Ukraine will ensure that the sanctions are coordinated with those of its partners, including those against Russia’s aviation infrastructure.
He further said that Ukraine is mounting pressure on Russia, particularly against its shadow tanker fleets, stressing that the country will work more closely with its partners to implement the sanctions against Russia and its companies and citizens.
He said, “Letters of credence from the ambassadors of our partner countries who have started their work in Ukraine. The ambassadors of Greece, Albania, Japan and Egypt.
“Together, we must do our utmost to restore the full effectiveness of international law, to support Ukraine, and to ensure simple human justice, which is something every nation deserves.”
“I have signed several decrees today imposing sanctions on Russian enterprises and individuals who are working in the interests of the aggressor state, enabling it to evade responsibility for the war,” Zelenskyy said.
“And Ukraine will ensure that these sanctions are coordinated with those of its partners, including those against Russia’s aviation infrastructure.”
He further revealed that he has a conversation scheduled with the Prime Minister of Canada for discussion on many issues.
“The main of them is our continued cooperation with Canada and the G7 states in general to strengthen our common positions and to defend Ukraine together with all partners from Russia’s constant desire to cause even damage through war,” he said.
Last year, Ukraine introduced a new set of personal sanctions against 181 Russian legal entities and 185 individuals, mostly related to the Russian military-industrial complex, effective from December 9, 2023.
The sanctions were imposed on military-industrial enterprises like Federal State Unitary Enterprise “13th Shipyard of the Black Sea Fleet” of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, JSC “Kovrov Electromechanical Plant”, PJSC “Lyskovsky Electro-Technical Plant” etc.
It also sanctioned machine-building enterprises like LLC Plant of Electric Aggregate Engineering “SEPOZEM” of JSC “Saratov Electric Aggregate Production Association”, JSC “Pavlovsky Machine Building Plant “Voskhod”, OJSC Electromechanical Engineering Plant “Velkont” etc., and manufacturers and suppliers of electronic components, including for the Russian military industry: LLC “Amitron Electronics”, LLC “VMK”, LLC “NeoTech”, LLC “EMS-Expert”, LLC “Telecom and Microelectronic Industries”, LLC “Radiodetal Postavka” etc.
Today I held a detailed meeting on sanctions and increasing pressure on Russia, specifically targeting the shadow tanker fleet. We have a series of measures in place and will be intensifying our work with partners.
