U.S. Embassy In Niger Suspends Routine Consular Services, Passport Processing, Others Indefinitely

The United States Embassy in Niamey, Niger Republic has announced the indefinite closure of its consular section.
“All routine consular services, including visa services, U.S. passport processing, and birth registrations, are suspended until further notice,” the embassy said in a statement on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
The embassy clarified that only limited emergency services would be available for U.S. citizens during the closure.
“During this period, only limited emergency services will be available for U.S. citizens,” it added.
The closure comes with no specified timeline for resuming regular consular services.
The embassy encouraged U.S. citizens in Niger to reach out through official channels if emergency assistance is needed.
