Two lucky students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede have emerged winners of the maiden Valentine Concert organized last month by the Special Adviser to Gov Hope Uzodinma on Social Media Influence, Chief Paschal Okechukwu (Cubana Chief Priest) The two students emerged through a raffle draw conducted by Gov. Uzodinma at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square (RANKS) Owerri. The two students are Blessing Emekwe from the Department of Science Laboratory Technology and Joshua Okeke from Agricultural Engineering Technology.

In a brief ceremony held this afternoon at the Council Chambers of the Polytechnic, the Governor’s aide formally presented the brand new Sport Utility Vehicles to the students amid pomp and colours. He also announced a monthly stipend to cover their personal upkeep as well as maintain the vehicles. In a bold philanthropic move, the aide also announced a sessional scholarship scheme covering the tuition of best graduating students across all departments in the polytechnic. He equally announced readiness to partner with the polytechnic in relevant areas of need.

Meanwhile, Chief Paschal Okechukwu has lauded the leadership of Engr Dr M.C. Arimanwa in the polytechnic, describing the school as a highly organized, lucky and progressive one. He also applauded the Rector and his team for giving him a remarkable reception when he came on an advocacy visit few weeks ago, maintaining that the Governor was happy with the polytechnic, when he related the development to him. In the end, he congratulated the polytechnic on the rare feat of producing winners of the raffle draw in an occasion that had all the higher institutions in Imo State. According to him, “I am so humbled by the great luck possessed by the Federal Polytechnic Nekede. In fact, other schools were not happy that Federal Polytechnic Nekede went home with the two star prizes. This is why the school deserves all accolades. I’m so proud of your school and its leadership which has made the institution very organized.”

In his response, the Deputy Rector (Academic), Dr Chris Onyemenonu, who represented the Rector, expressed joy at the victory of the two polytechnic students at the raffle draw, which has made them car owners. He thanked the Gov’s aide for creatively coming out with the Valentine package which has shown that the governor is passionate about youth empowerment. He, therefore, charged the benefiting students to ensure they did not lose focus of their educational pursuit, urging them to be grateful to the school which gave them the platform on which they won the prizes. Finally, he commended the Gov’s aide for the scholarship package, wishing him well in the noble programmes and initiatives of his office.
