Trump Tells Death-Row Inmates Granted Clemency By Biden To ‘Go To Hell!’ In Christmas Day Message
Instead of wishing them a merry Christmas, Trump told them to “go to Hell”. This harsh statement came after Biden’s decision on Monday to grant clemency to all but three of the 40 federal inmates on death row.
President-elect Donald Trump took to social media on Wednesday to express his disdain for the 37 federal death-row inmates who had their sentences commuted to life in prison without parole by President Joe Biden.
Instead of wishing them a merry Christmas, Trump told them to “go to Hell”. This harsh statement came after Biden’s decision on Monday to grant clemency to all but three of the 40 federal inmates on death row.
Trump also criticised Biden’s move, saying he would direct his Department of Justice to “vigorously pursue the death penalty”.
Unlike executive orders, clemency decisions cannot be reversed by a president’s successor, although the death penalty can be sought more aggressively in future cases.
“[T]o the 37 most violent criminals, who killed, raped, and plundered like virtually no one before them, but were just given, incredibly, a pardon by Sleepy Joe Biden,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“I refuse to wish a Merry Christmas to those lucky ‘souls’ but, instead, will say, GO TO HELL!” he added.
He also mocked the Prime Minister of Canada in his Christmas message, referring to him as ‘Governor’ in continuation to his reference to the neighbouring country as a prospective 51st state of the US.
“Also, to Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose Citizens’ Taxes are far too high, but if Canada was to become our 51st State, their Taxes would be cut by more than 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World,” he said.
