Citing intelligence sources, Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focusing on the Lake Chad region, said the troops carried out the raid in the early hours of Saturday.

The publication said the troops of sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai under the joint task force (north-east) Operation desert sanity III and the civilian joint task force (CJTF) collaborated in the raid.

Makama said there were no reported casualties among the Nigerian troops.

In another development, the publication said troops of 21 armoured brigade in Pulka and men of CJTF, foiled an ambush by Boko Haram terrorists along Ngoshe-Ashigashiya road in the state on Friday.

Makama said the terrorists were attempting to cross towards the Mandara mountains with a bag containing stolen corn before the troops thwarted the plan and killed one of them.

“Others fled in disarray with possible gunshot wounds,” the publication said.

Earlier, President Bola Tinubu commended the Nigerian Army for the successful counter-insurgency operations in the northern region.

Tinubu urged the troops to sustain their efforts to achieve lasting peace and security.
