Tragedy In Port Harcourt As Police Shoot Peterside Dead
Olafuro Peterside, a father of three, was tragically killed on Saturday morning in Elekahia, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Rivers State
The incident occurred at a popular bar where Olafuro was enjoying an outing with his family.
The perpetrators of this unfortunate event were two policemen, serving in 43-Squadron, Gombe state, who were on special duty in Rivers at the time.
According to Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Police Command in Rivers, it is reported that the policemen fired their weapons into the air after residents raised an alarm about a potential robbery in the neighborhood.
Sadly, a stray bullet struck Olafuro Peterside, leading to his untimely death.
The two policemen have since been apprehended and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
Iringe-Koko expressed the command’s awareness of the incident and requested the public’s understanding and calm in the wake of the tragedy. The police are actively interrogating the involved officers to ascertain the full details of the incident.
