Tragedy occurred at mile 5, Ugbolu, Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State as lightning killed 2 persons, injuring 5 others during a heavy downpour.
Our heritage reporter gathered that the two dead persons, a male and female were in a makeshift shop when the incident occurred, both died instantly.
The identity of the man and woman is still yet unknown as at the time of filing this report, however, according to sources, the man is said to be an Evangelist, while the woman, a cassava farmer.
A survivor of the incident, Mrs. Gladys Okah, told newsmen that she ran into a meat shop owned by one Mrs. Ortega due to the heavy downpour when the thunder struck.
Narrating the event, Mrs. Okah said, “I was flung by the thunder into a flood beside the shop. Everyone that survived was left with scars due to the effect of the thunder strike”.
“A middle-aged man survived with injuries on his face while two teenagers, Favour and Precious, survived with injuries to their hands and legs.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Delta state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the incident, adding that, the corpse of the deceased have been deposited in the mortuary.
