Top PDP wonan Leader Resigns From Party
Margaret Okon, the Assistant State Women Leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River South, has resigned from the party.
Her resignation comes just two days after Emana Amawhe, the PDP’s deputy governorship candidate for the 2024 elections, also left the party.
In a letter to the chairman of her local ward in Akpabuyo Local Government Area, Okon thanked the PDP for the opportunities she had while serving in different roles.
She started as a ward executive member, later became a councillor, and most recently served as the Assistant State Women Leader for the South.
“I am grateful for the trust and support I received throughout my journey in the PDP,” she wrote.
“The lessons I have learned will help me in my future plans. I remain committed to serving my community and working for progress.”
Okon’s resignation is another major political change in Cross River State following Amawhe’s departure.
