‘They Did Not Lose – Uzodimma Surprises PDP And LP, Reveals Who Won Governorship Election
The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, delivered an acceptance speech on Monday, a day after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officially declared him the winner of the off-cycle governorship election in the state.
During a live broadcast from Owerri, the state capital, the governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate offered an olive branch to his opponents, including Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party (LP), who secured second and third positions, respectively.
Uzodimma said he “congratulates” and “commiserates” with his rivals, arguing that they did not lose, but that the “Imo people won”.
He further stated that the victory was attributed to God, emphasizing that the divine intervention was also evident in his first-term triumph when a Supreme Court ruling declared him the winner, leading to the removal of Emeka Ihedioha.
