The unfortunate and Miscredited Attack on West : Meso Obanigba
….has shown alot of competency within the legislative chambers as well as in his developmental strides within Owo constituency 1 and even in Owo constituency 11.
It was rather disturbing and painful watching a trending video on social media where some irate youths were chasing after a figure which I was told is the image of Mr. Wole Ogunmolasuyi, the honourables member representing Owo 1 at the state House of Assembly.
It is a pity that Mr. West is been set aside for attack by some disgruntled elements within his constituency.
Given that most of the legislators representing Owo have not measured up to expected standard in terms of both their core legislative duties as well as their development efforts within their various constituencies, that much could not be said of Mr. Wole Ogunmolasuyi who has done so much within the legislative chambers as well as in Owo community as a whole.
He has shown alot of competency within the legislative chambers as well as in his developmental strides within Owo constituency 1 and even in Owo constituency 11.
This writer can attest to some of his efforts to project development in Owo both within the house and outside the house.
That apart, for a legislator with a very busy scheduled, he was very accessible. and always willing to help. He picks his calls anytime anybody calls him for one help or the other.
He is ever ready to interact with both young and old. He bents over backward to accommodate other people’s viewpoint.
No wonder his colleagues appointed him the majority leader of the house which did not come on a platter of gold but in recognition of his legislative prowess.
Being a majority leader of an august and eminent legislative chamber of Ondo state is not a mean achievement.
His colleagues must have been abreast of his contribution to the legislative duties of the house and his ability to interact and act as a buffer between the house, the executive arm as well as the judicial arm of governance.
Despite his relatively young age, (he ranks among the youngest legislator in Ondo state), his colleagues repose in him an absolute trust comparable to that of the speaker of the house to pilot the affairs of the house.
So, if I may ask, where is the sudden change of behaviour of the youths coming from?
I for see this coming a few days ago when some appointees of the state government gathered themselves and arrogated to themselves the power to select legislators to represent Owo.
Individually and collectively, they purportedly raised up the hand of one FAILED LEGISLATOR who had not sponsored one single bill during his 4year term I the house as a sole candidate of the APC in the forthcoming election.
What an imprudent, I was forced to shout.
To my chagrin and utter bewilderment, I saw WEST among them.
My first instinct was to call him and ask him why but on a second taught, I told myself, he may have been deceived to attend that gathering.
I reasoned this much then these so-called APC leaders who gathered and start talking about ‘A SOLE / CONSENSUS candidate’ may soon have their cups full in Owo with its peculiar political behaviour.
But be that as it may,we should not in anyway throw away the babe with the bathwater. We should learn to separate the fingers that offended from the whole hand.
I know that the Iloro youths are actually angry with the Owo representative in the higher legislative chambers particularly the one representing us at the National Assembly for their failure to represent us well.
West, a grassroot man was just guilty by association.
This will serve as a warning signal to the APC to allow a level playing field for all aspirants to test their popularity with the electorates instead of their stillbirth plan to impose a candidate.
They should know by now that ‘Owo ko GBA gbere o’.
I dare say that in all the yardsticks of measurement of legislative representation, West Ogunmolasuyi scores very high and he stands up shoulder high above the wobbling and fumbling others.
To this end, we need to plead with the angry youths not to visit the iniquity of the others on this young man.
I remember, during his first time in the polity, he ran his campaign solely by himself and he won the hearts of the youths. He does not need the bandwagon of all these failed politicians to secure a second term now.
He has done much to secure the trust of the people for a second term. He should stop associating with all these know it all politicians who will soon Dade away.
He, however, should be given the appropriate respect he deserves by our youths.
