THE DEVIL IS A GOAT – Pastor Isaac Olutimehin
TEXT:
Luke 4:13 KJV.
“And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season”.
*MESSAGE:*
☆☆☆ Beloved, we are all aware of the accounts of Matthew and Luke concerning the temptation of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
☆☆☆ Here in the book of Luke, the bible says👇
“And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season”.
☆☆☆ Please note the phrase, “for a season”.
☆☆☆ Beloved, after any victory in life, prepare for another war. The devil is a goat, he doesn’t give up easily.
☆☆☆ For example, if the goat eats your yam and you hit the goat on the head with a rod, he will only depart “for a season”.
☆☆☆ That goat will now go into hiding close by, where he can monitor your movement and take advantage of the next available opportunity.
☆☆☆ Little wonder the bible warns👇
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” – 1 Peter 5:8.
☆☆☆ Beloved, the devil is like a goat who is never tired. He will surely strike again and again. The devil is never discouraged.
☆☆☆ This is why the bible cautions that we must be vigilant because the devil may come in another form.
☆☆☆ If you are not vigilant, he will get you off your guard.
☆☆☆ When the devil left Jesus for a season, he looked for a convenient time to appear again but this time round, in another form.
☆☆☆ When you read Matthew 16:21-23, in verse 21, the bible says👇
“From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day”.
☆☆☆ In verse 22, the bible says👇
“Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee”.
☆☆☆ Jesus Christ was vigilant enough to know that the devil had entered into Peter to stop him (Jesus) from fulfilling the purpose for which he was sent to the world.
☆☆☆ You will discover in Matthew 16:23, when Jesus was to rebuke Peter, he addressed him as Satan; using the exact words which he used to silence Satan in Matthew 4:10.
“But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan…” Matthew 16:23.
☆☆☆ Beloved, if the devil is never tired of battles, then we as children of God; must not be tired of fighting.
☆☆☆ The devil is always on the look out for your carelessness, mistakes and errors which he can capitalize on to attack you.
☆☆☆ Every believer must therefore note that the devil won’t attack when you are well prepared for him.
☆☆☆ The devil will always like to attack when his targeted victims are not prepared.
☆☆☆ Also note that the devil is a master strategist who will always attack his victims from their weak points.
*PRAYERS:*
1. Father, expose every hiding place of the devil and his agents in my life.
2. Oh God my father, don’t allow me to unconsciously open the door of my life for the devil’s affliction.
3. Strengthen me Lord against the attacks of the devil and his agents.
4. My father, my father, don’t allow me to fall asleep on the battle field.
5. Oh God my father, don’t allow me to be lured by the aroma of the devil’s delicacies.
6. Devil, there is no parking space for you in my life. Keep moving.
7. Father, grant me the grace to overcome the devil and his temptations.
8. In the name of Jesus, I will not become a wilful captive to the devil.
