Teenager Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing N495,000 From Employer In Abuja
Inuwa, who worked at Green Grace Garden in the Karmo area of Abuja, is facing two counts of criminal breach of trust and theft.
A19-year-old sales representative, Rejoice Inuwa, was on Wednesday arraigned before the Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing N495,500 from her employer.
Inuwa, who worked at Green Grace Garden in the Karmo area of Abuja, is facing two counts of criminal breach of trust and theft.
She was accused of fleeing with the money after allegedly committing the offence on April 2.
According to the Prosecutor, Charity Nwachukwu, the case was reported to the police by the complainant, Grace Ojobo, a resident of Agura Staff Quarters in Karmo.
“The defendant, an employee of the complainant, was entrusted with handling sales at Green Grace Garden,” Nwachukwu told the court.
“She allegedly stole N495,500 and absconded from duty. She was later arrested and brought in for questioning.”
The prosecutor further revealed that Inuwa made a confessional statement during police interrogation.
“She could not give a satisfactory account of the missing money, and all efforts to recover it have so far failed,” Nwachukwu said.
The accused was brought before Chief Magistrate Musa Jobbo, who granted her bail in the sum of N200,000, with one surety in like sum.
Magistrate Jobbo ordered that the surety must be a responsible citizen with a verifiable address and valid means of identification.
He then adjourned the matter until May 29 for hearing.
