Hosea 4:17 KJV.
“Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone”.

¶¶¶ Let us get some facts straight for a better understanding of this verse:
¶¶¶ When you read Genesis 48:8-20, you will discover the following facts👇
¶¶¶ Ephraim was the youngest of Joseph’s two sons while the elder was Manasseh.
¶¶¶ Jacob, the father of Joseph had visited him in Egypt.
¶¶¶ He requested Joseph to set Manasseh and Ephraim before him for prayers.
¶¶¶ Jacob could no longer see clearly due to old age, therefore Joseph had positioned Manasseh (his elder son) on the right hand of his father and Ephraim on the left side.
¶¶¶ While praying, Jacob crossed his hands, placing the right hand on Ephraim and the left on Manasseh.
¶¶¶ Joseph protested profusely and wanted to remove his father’s right hand from the head of Ephraim, thinking his father was making a mistake.
¶¶¶ Jacob, his father, however insisted and said that both of them would become great but Ephraim would be greater.
¶¶¶ And the bible says,

“…and he set Ephraim before Manasseh” – Genesis 48:20.

¶¶¶ In no time, Ephraim became so wealthy that when you compare his wealth with that of his elder brother (Manasseh); he was in tens of thousands while Manasseh was measured in one of thousands. The bible says👇

“His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh” – Deuteronomy 33:17.

¶¶¶ This same Ephraim that God preferred, prospered and set above his elder brother, Manasseh; now took God for granted, forsook God and joined himself to idols.
¶¶¶ The presence of God now left him and God declared concerning Ephraim 👇

“Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be” – Hosea 5:9.

¶¶¶ Beloved, now that you have understood what led to Hosea 4:17, hope you are not treating God the same way Ephraim did?
¶¶¶ Hope you are not also taking God for granted!!!
¶¶¶ Are the blessings that God graciously bestowed upon you now separating you from God!!!
¶¶¶ Have you ever considered the following👇

>>> You have been changing jobs as if you are changing your clothes, there are several others; better than you, who are searching for jobs.
>>> God has given you the number of children you planned to have, exactly the way you wanted them: two boys and two girls. Have you considered your neighbour who is praying that God would give her just one child?
>>> Your friends, who are in the same business with you, are wondering what they are not doing right that their businesses are not progressing and yet God is prospering you.
>>> The contract you were awarded, due to God’s favour, eluded your friend who was well connected.
>>> Have you wondered why and appreciated God for his benevolence!!!

¶¶¶ But now, you no longer have time for God.
¶¶¶ God has blessed you so much that you are now too busy to have a spare time for God.

“Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone” – Hosea 4:17.

¶¶¶ Has the blessing of God now become the idol separating you from him?
¶¶¶ Is your long awaited miracle baby now standing between you and God?
¶¶¶ What about the promotion you have been denied several times in the past which God has graciously approved. Is it not taking you away from God?
¶¶¶ What is that idol in your life that you have joined yourself to, *please get a divorce today.*

  1. Surely God should not be taking for granted, because all the prophecy he prophecies came to reality, is only those without faith that will take God prophecy for granted.
