Take It Back Movement Counters Nigerian Police, Releases Names Of #ENDSARS Protesters Still Languishing In Prison Four Years Later

A pro-democracy and human rights group, Take It Back Movement (TIB), has countered claims by the Nigeria Police Force that no #EndSARS protester is still being unlawfully detained in its custody or by other security agencies across the country.

The police denial came as a response to Senator Shehu Sani’s call on President Bola Tinubu to release #EndSARS protesters still languishing in police detention almost four years after the October 2020 protest.
While speaking at a special dinner organised to mark the June 12 Democracy Day held at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Sani said those who took part in the protest should also be considered as champions of democracy.
Sani noted that he and other peers who were part of the fight to entrench democracy in Nigeria as the #ENDSARS protesters learnt from President Tinubu to be dogged.
The former lawmaker therefore called on the President to do something about the #EndSARS protesters still languishing in jail to ensure their speedy release.
But the police spokesperson said that the matter of #EndSARS protesters had been concluded and “lessons have been learnt.”
However, TIB on Monday released the names of #EndSARS protesters still in Kirikiri Medium Prison, Ikoyi Prison and Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos State.
According to the TIB list, Dare Williams, Daniel Joyibo, Adigun Sodiq, Ismail Olaogun, Rasheed Wasiu Bolaji and Moshood Biola are all still in Kirikiri Medium Prison.
The list also shows that Segun Ogundare and Azeez Mudashiru are still languishing in Ikoyi Prison while Ismail Mufutau is in Kirikiri Maximum Prison.
Another list making the rounds on social media listed the names of 31 #EndSARS protesters said to still be languishing in different prisons in the country.
The list identified protesters still in detention to include Ogidi Joseph, Marcus Joseph, Joseph Oyebowale, Muyiwa Onikoyi, Taiwo Fagbemi, Jamiu Sani, Segun Adeniji, Ibrahim Adesanya, Daniel Joyibo, Dare Williams, Sunday Ikorodu, Adigun Sodiq, Yusuf Rafiu, Shehu Anas and Yakubu Olayiwola.
Others are Ismail Muftao, Bethel chukwuocha, Onuora Odih, Jeremiah Lucky, Gideon Ikwujoma, Haruna Adekunjo, Irinyemi Oluwanbe, Joshua Adeleke, Kabiru Ajetunmobi, Moses Ofoke, Quadri Azeez, Idris Lawus, Charles Godstine Adele, Akeem Azeez, Sodiq Riliwan and Olamide Lekan.
Efforts made by SaharaReporters to get the reaction of the Force Public Relations Officer, Adejobi to the lists failed as he did not respond to calls made to his mobile number, leaving the requests unfulfilled.
