Suspected Terrorists Attack Two Vehicles In Kwara, Abduct Occupants As Police Begin Manhunt
In response, the Kwara State Police Command, noted that its partnership with the military and vigilantes led to the successful rescue of two victims: “Ganiyu Ajayi” and “Kolawole Adeyemi.”
The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed a kidnap incident that occurred at about 5:45pm on Friday in Eleyin village in Isanlu-Isin in the Isin Local Government Area.
According to a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Saturday and obtained by SaharaReporters, the attack involved “five armed men” who “blocked the highway,” intercepted “two private vehicles,” and abducted their “occupants” to an unknown location.
In response, the Kwara State Police Command, noted that its partnership with the military and vigilantes led to the successful rescue of two victims: “Ganiyu Ajayi” and “Kolawole Adeyemi.”
It was noted that efforts are ongoing to “rescue the remaining victims” and “apprehend the perpetrators.”
The police also noted that, to “strengthen security,” the command has intensified measures including “aggressive bush combing,” “strategic patrols,” and “intelligence-driven operations,” aimed at “preventing further occurrences” of such criminal activities.
Furthermore, the Police reassured residents that “robust strategies” are in place to “safeguard lives and property” across Kwara State.
Citizens were urged to “remain calm,” “stay vigilant,” and “support security agencies” by providing “credible information.”
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining “law and order,” adding that “further updates” would be provided as necessary.
The spokesperson concluded by emphasising that “community cooperation” is crucial for “effective policing” and ensuring the “safety of all.”
Meanwhile, residents of Eleyin village expressed “relief” at the partial rescue and pledged their continued support for the “ongoing security efforts.”
Authorities further urged the public to “report suspicious movements” and “adhere to security advisories” issued by the Command.
The police vowed that the “offenders would be brought to justice” and that “normalcy” would soon be fully restored to the affected community.
Kwara State has experienced insecurity in recent weeks, leading to growing tension and apprehension across the state especially with the new terrorist group, Mahmuda killing some residents of the state.
