Dr. Iliyasu Musa Kwankwaso, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has urged Nigerians to refrain from politicizing security issues, stating that it hinders progress in the fight against insecurity.

According to the report by The Nation on Saturday, Kwankwaso commended the Ministry of Defense’s efforts in supporting the military’s relocation to Sokoto and praised former Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle’s initiative to offer a N20 million reward for information leading to the arrest of bandits.

Kwankwaso expressed concern over the politicization of security matters, citing the criticism of the defense ministry’s actions as hypocritical.

He said that those benefiting from terrorism are behind the politicization, and it is essential to support the government’s efforts in the fight against terrorism.

He said, “People are being killed by these terrorists, and the situation has gone bad. Now that the ministry has taken steps towards dealing with the situation, to the extent that about 80 terrorists were killed yesterday, why would any right thinking person come out to condemn the action?”

The APC chieftain appealed to Nigerians to join hands and support the government’s initiatives, particularly the defense ministry and military, in achieving their goals.

He noted that critics of the federal government’s security efforts are motivated by political interests in 2027, which is not in the nation’s best interest.

Kwankwaso also called on northerners to cease unnecessary attacks on each other, as it hinders regional development.

He emphasized the need for unity and support in addressing security challenges, rather than politicizing the issue.
