Sports Development : Ivo Chairman Gear up Council team to victory in First Governor’s Cup football Competition
The sport friendly governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt Hon. Blder. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, FNIOB GGCEHF, has cast the dice rolling among the 13 local government area of the state to solidify and strengthen the peaceful co-existence and pick good talented youths for global sponsorship.
On the 2nd August 2023, the two big teams of Onicha vs Ivo showed their strength on the group opening match, it was indeed man hut to man hut and no brink of eye on the ball till the end. It started earlier with both team threatening the goal keepers to a decisive saves while ivo draw the first blood of missing a great couple of chances till reduce to 10 men out of injury in the 20-25mins of first half.
Boom, the moment for their good work came, Joshua Francis received the ball after dribbling and pass to Uchenna Ajali who blast it beyond onicha keeper hand and handed ivo the lead, yet unsatisfied for the first effort while ivo man is still receiving medical treatment outside the field, in less than 5mins, Joshua Francis assisted Uchenna Ajali again for the second goal.
The second half began where the first stop, several efforts from both team was kept out by the keepers, Onicha had a controversial penalty but the effort was swallowed by the keeper who received an award gifts and praises from ivo council chairman, Hon. Chief Ajah Emmanuel Ogbonna
One of the captivating scenes, is untiring effort of supporters led by the council chairman all through the match.
