SPEED BREAKERS – Pastor Isaac Olutimehin
TEXT:
Genesis 24:12 KJV.
“And he said, O Lord God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day, and shew kindness unto my master Abraham”.
MESSAGE:
☆☆☆ Abraham was well stricken in age and he requested his eldest servant to get a wife for his son, Isaac, among his own kinsmen 👇
“But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac” – Genesis 24:4.
☆☆☆ The servant set out on his search to Abraham’s place of birth to do according to his master’s request.
☆☆☆ He now prayed a prayer, which is going to be the basis of our discussion for today 👇
“And he said, O Lord God of my master Abraham, I pray thee, send me good speed this day…” – Genesis 24:12.
☆☆☆ Beloved, to achieve God’s plan and purpose in life, within the shortest possible time, divine speed is required.
☆☆☆ Being wealthy or making it early in life is not a function of age or your educational attainment but divine speed makes the difference.
☆☆☆ Our basis for discussion today is not going to center on divine speed but on speed breakers.
☆☆☆ If there is a divine speed, where someone can make it faster in life, then there will surely be speed breakers.
☆☆☆ Speed breakers can stagnate an individual on the same spot for years or even for a life time.
☆☆☆ We are going to examine some of these speed breakers today and what to do to get them off your way.
☆☆☆ These speed breakers include but not limited to the following👇
- SIN
☆☆☆ We all know that sin is a sinker of destiny. Sin is a destiny destroyer.
☆☆☆ Somebody said, sin means success in nothing. There is therefore no argument about the fact that sin is a powerful speed breaker.
☆☆☆ Sin would have broken the speed at which Joseph was moving, even at a tender age but he ran.
☆☆☆ The bible says 👇
“And it came to pass about this time, that Joseph went into the house to do his business; and there was none of the men of the house there within”.
[12] “And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out” – Genesis 39:11-12.
☆☆☆ There are several people in the bible that sin was the reason they didn’t succeed in life. Samson and Gehazi will readily come to mind.
SOLUTION
☆☆☆ The only way to remove sin as a speed breaker is by surrending one’s life to Jesus.
☆☆☆ Anytime the devil comes calling with his deception to lure you into sin, do what Joseph did; RUN.
- REVEALING DIVINE SECRETS
☆☆☆ There are certain divine secret informations meant for just you alone. If not for God, the brethren of Joseph would have succeeded in stopping the speed at which he was moving.
☆☆☆ He disclosed his dreams to his brethren and his trouble started 👇
“And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more” – Genesis 37:5.
☆☆☆ Let me shock you beloved, what killed Samson was not the sin of fornication and adultery but the greatest mistake of his life was when he revealed his divine secret to Delilah 👇
☆☆☆ Let’s read Judges 16:16-21👇
And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; [17] That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man. [18] And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand. [19] And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him. [20] And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him. [21] But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.
☆☆☆ You can now see that Samson fell when Delilah knew the secret of his strength and she weakened him.
SOLUTION
☆☆☆ The way out of this speed breaker is to keep divine secrets to yourself. As a matter of fact, there are certain testimonies you may not share until they are fully mature because there are several demonic speed breakers out there.
¶¶¶ The bible says 👇
“He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction” – Proverbs 13:3.
- COVETOUSNESS
☆☆☆ This is one powerful tool in the hands of the devil which he uses to slow down people or break their speed or even stop them permanently.
☆☆☆ When you read the story of Gehazi, you will discover that covetousness was in his blood.
☆☆☆ Have you wondered why he knew the challenge of the Shunamite woman which Elisha, his master, didn’t know!!!
☆☆☆ Check this👇
“And he said, What then is to be done for her? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old” – 2 Kings 4:14.
☆☆☆ Gehazi got closer to that woman because she was extremely rich, hence he knew about her challenges: No child and her husband was old.
☆☆☆ It was this same covetousness that eventually ended Gehazi’s ministry.

2 Kings 5:21-27 KJV
So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well? [22] And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. [23] And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him. [24] And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed. [25] But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither. [26] And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? [27] The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.
☆☆☆ Gehazi whose ministerial speed would have been accelerated by receiving double portion of the anointing of Elisha, eventually lost out due to covetousness.
SOLUTION
☆☆☆ The way out of this vice is simply to be satisfied with whatever the Lord has graciously given to you.
☆☆☆ There is time for everything. Remember, no condition is permanent. You may not have all you want today but tomorrow will surely be alright.
- LAZINESS
☆☆☆ Laziness is another tool the devil uses to checkmate the progress of people in life.
☆☆☆ The lazy people are those the bible calls the slothful. While others are busy working, the slothful are busy mounting up excuses why he could not do certain things.
☆☆☆ The bible has this to say concerning the slothful👇
“The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets” – Proverbs 22:13.
SOLUTION
☆☆☆ The bible gives the right solution on how to remove this speed breaker👇
“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest” – Ecclesiastes 9:10.
☆☆☆ Beloved, the idle hand is the devil’s workshop. Keep yourself busy. Prayerfully find something good to start doing rather than mounting up excuses.
- Missing God’s sent helpers
☆☆☆ This is a powerful speed breaker in the journey of life.
☆☆☆ Beloved, to achieve success faster in life, you need God sent destiny helpers.
☆☆☆ These are the people God will use to fast track or hasten your journey to the promised land.
☆☆☆ In Exodus 2:18, the bible says👇
“And when they came to Reuel their father, he said, How is it that ye are come so soon to day?
☆☆☆ The daughters of Reuel returned home earlier than expected with their jars of water filled up because a destiny helper, Moses, came their way.
☆☆☆ They had always been coming home late and most times without water because the shepherds would drive them away.
☆☆☆ On this particular day however, Moses came to their rescue.
“And the shepherds came and drove them away: but Moses stood up and helped them, and watered their flock” – Exodus 2:17.
☆☆☆ Beloved, there is a destiny helper God has graciously assigned to every individual. Once you miss yours, your journey through life can either be delayed or stagnated for life.
SOLUTION
☆☆☆ Just cry to God in prayers to connect you with those he has assigned to help fast track your journey through life.
☆☆☆ You also need to pray to God to open your eyes to identify your own God sent destiny helpers whenever they come your way.
PRAYERS
1. Father, remove from the path of my life every speed breaker that can slow down my movement.
2. Oh God my father, don’t allow me to become the enemy of myself.
3. Father, don’t allow me to use my own mouth to open the door of my life for the destroyers to come in.
4. Father, let the light of your word expose every hidden sin in my life.
5. I receive divine grace to be satisfied with whatever God has given me.
6. Father, don’t allow me to be comfortable in my comfort zone, thereby missing divine opportunities.
7. Oh God my creator, please connect me with those you have assigned to accelerate my journey through life.
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS
I command the fire of God to consume every speed breaker obstructing your progress through life.
Whatever God has not created with you which has been serving as a speed breaker shall be uprooted from your life in Jesus name.
May you not become blind when your destiny helpers shall appear in Jesus name.
¶¶¶ Some people have unconsciously chased away their own destiny helpers.
For you I decree, your habit, your character, your attitude and behaviour will not block your speed accelerators from locating you in Jesus name.
On the day of your divine elevation, I decree, your destiny helpers will not doze off in Jesus name.
You will not be stagnated at the peak of success and breakthrough in Jesus name.
I decree and declare, you will not sell your birthright on the altar of greed in Jesus name.
Whatever represents speed breakers in your life shall be uprooted forthwith in Jesus name.
Your life shall attract speed accelerators in Jesus mighty name.
