Show Nigerians Laboratory Test Results Carried Out On Dangote Refinery – Group Tells Petroleum Agency, NMDPRA
The civil society on Thursday gave the NMDPRA a seven-day ultimatum to provide the laboratory results specifically between May 31, 2024, and July 24, 2024, so that it could clear the air on the controversy around the refinery.
A coalition of civil societies under the aegis of the Conference of Civil Society for Transparency and Accountability (COCTA), has asked the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to produce the laboratory test results conducted on Dangote Refinery products.
The civil society on Thursday gave the NMDPRA a seven-day ultimatum to provide the laboratory results specifically between May 31, 2024, and July 24, 2024, so that it could clear the air on the controversy around the refinery.
In a letter signed by Olumuyiwa Onlede, Convener and National Coordinator, and Haruna Abdulsalam, Director of Communication and Advocacy, the COCTA urged NMDPRA to substantiate its claims with empirical evidence within the stipulated timeframe or face mass protests.
The copy of the letter, made available to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja, emphasised the need for transparency and accountability in the regulatory agency’s actions.
COCTA urged NMDPRA to make public the data and laboratory test results that allegedly confirmed that Dangote Refinery’s products did not meet required standards.
“Specifically, COCTA requests Certified True Copies of Laboratory Test results conducted on Dangote Refinery products between May 31, 2024, and July 24, 2024.
“COCTA emphasises that this is a serious allegation, requiring robust substantiation, considering the massive investment and effort invested in building the refinery.
“The success of the refinery holds significant promise for Nigerians, particularly the potential reduction in Premium Motor Spirit prices. Transparency and accountability are crucial in this matter.
