SHORTER BED, NARROWER COVERING : Pastor Isaac Olutimehin
Isaiah 28:20 KJV.
“For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it”.
*MESSAGE*
☆☆☆ This is another scripture we need the help of the Holy Spirit to really be able to understand.
☆☆☆ We shall be looking at this verse from two perspectives 👇
1. Physical perspective.
2. The Spiritual perspective.
*1. “Shorter bed”, narrower covering: The physical perspective:*
☆☆☆ “A bed” is supposed to be an object of rest where we can lay our body, particularly, after a long day of hard work.
☆☆☆ “A bed” is supposed to give us comfort.
☆☆☆ “The Covering” on the other hand is like a blanket which is expected to shied us from cold and to protect the body from danger while sleeping.
☆☆☆ Now the bible says “the bed” itself cannot play its role of giving comfort because it is too short.
☆☆☆ Neither can “the covering” protect the entire body because it is too narrow.
☆☆☆ Shorter bed and the narrower covering: 👇
☆☆☆ There those you rely on out there to assist you but they have let you down.
☆☆☆ Those you are expecting to comfort you are the main sources of your discomfort.
▪The Psalmist lamented thus 👇
*”Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me” – Psalm 41:9.*
☆☆☆ Those you rely upon to defend you have turned against you.
☆☆☆ Your best friends have become your worst enemies.
▪This was the experience of the Psalmist when he wrote 👇
*”For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him”.
[13] “But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance”.
[14] “We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company” – Psalm 55:12-14.*
☆☆☆ You have been betrayed by those you have so much confidence in.
▪This was the account of Job in this regard 👇
*”My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me” – Job 19:14.*
*PLEASE PRAY THESE PRAYERS* 👇
1. Oh God my father, let me experience divine comfort where I have suffered discomfort in the hands of men.
2. Father, please flood my life with heavenly provisions where I have experienced a shortfall in the hands of men.
3. Oh God my creator, please restore my battered image to the original form you have created me to be.
4. Heal my wounds oh God occasioned by serial betrayals.
5. Father, give me the grace to put all my trust in you alone rather than in man.
*2. “Shorter bed, narrower covering” – The Spiritual Perspective:*
☆☆☆ This has to do with our relationship with God:
☆☆☆ Anyone whose pride will not allow him to repent of known sins is actually sleeping on “the bed too short with a covering too narrow”.
▪The word of God says 👇
“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” – Proverbs 28:13.
☆☆☆ Anyone who wants an immoral lifestyle while trying to hang on a semblance of being a Christian is sleeping on “the bed too short with a covering too narrow”.
☆☆☆ Are you are a child of God, then stand out for God.
▪On this premise the bible warns 👇
*Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? – 2 Corinthians 6:14.*
▪Again the bible encourages every child of God thus 👇
*”Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” – Mathew 5:16.*
☆☆☆ Anyone who refuses to serve God with a spirit of humility is sleeping on “the bed too short with a covering too narrow”.
*”But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble”.
[10] “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up” – James 4:6,10.*
☆☆☆ Anyone who places the standard of his religion above the standard of God, is sleeping on “the bed too short with a covering too narrow”.
▪Paul found himself enmeshed in this vice at a time before God delivered him.
*”Which knew me from the beginning, if they would testify, that after the most straitest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee” – Acts 26:5.*
▪Again Paul said 👇
*”And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers” – Galatians 1:14.*
▪Hear Paul again speaking about how he persecuted the church of God because of his religious belief 👇
*”For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it” – Galatians 1:13.*
☆☆☆ Anyone who doesn’t even have a relationship with God is really sleeping on “the bed too short with a covering too narrow”.
☆☆☆ Such an individual is living in a cage and needs to be set free.
*”And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” – John 8:32.*
*”If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” – John 8:36.*
☆☆☆ Anyone who is not prepared for the coming of Christ is actually sleeping on “the bed too short with a covering too narrow”.
▪For the bible says 👇
*”But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only”.*
*[42] Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come” – Matthew 24:36,42.*
*PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS* 👇
I pray for somebody out there and I prophesy, you will experience comfort from God in every area of your life where you are currently experiencing discomfort in Jesus name.
To a particular individual out there, I decree once again, the Lord himself shall redeem your battered image and restore you to the original being God has created you to be.
I prophesy, every shortage in your life shall receive divine supply henceforth in Jesus name.
I decree and declare, you will enjoy abundance of the El-Shaddai God from today in Jesus name.
I decree, declare and prophesy, God will convert your disappointment to divine appointment in Jesus name.
To somebody out there, I decree, may the affairs of this world not lead you to a state of spiritual discomfort in Jesus name.
May you not be separated from your maker in Jesus name.
To another individual, I pray, may you receive the grace to make amends before it becomes too late in Jesus name.
“The bed too short with the covering too narrow” will never be your portion in Jesus mighty name.
