Barely two weeks after receiving an impressive rating from no less a Federal Government Agency than the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), the Federal Polytechnic Nekede yesterday received plaudits from the Service Compact with all Nigerians (SERVICOM), whose delegation came on a two-day performance audit visit to the institution.

In an exit briefing session held at the Rector’s office, the leader of the team from SERVICOM profusely commended the Rector, Engr Dr Michael Arimanwa, for excellent service delivery, which has given the polytechnic an edge over others in performance. She also commended the Rector for reflecting quality service in every facet of the polytechnic, adding that her team sampled their findings through interactive sessions with staff and students of the polytechnic.

The delectable aesthetics of the polytechnic did not go unnoticed to the team as the leader praised the Rector for maintaining a clean and healthy environment all around the school. According her, “We have seen so many polytechnics, Federal Polytechnic is different. We are impressed with what we have seen. Your environment is very clean and healthy. We even went to the remotest parts of the school to see if we could see any dirt, but to our surprise, we did not see any.”
The team leader also expressed satisfaction with the standard facilities at the Polytechnic Medical Centre, the conducive learning environment, and the classy infrastructural edifices in the school. Accordingly, she gave the Rector a thumbs-up on the huge success he has recorded in the areas of ICT, research, technology and scholarship, among others. The team members, who were visibly excited with the electric car invention of the polytechnic, showered encomium on the Rector for the excellent feat.

While thanking SERVICOM for the visit, the Rector reiterated his resolve to take the Federal Polytechnic Nekede to greater heights. In his words, “We are passionate about service delivery because we are always bent on improving on our strategies and policies.” The Rector also promised to look into the few areas of concern raised by the team with a view to improving on the quality of service rendered in them; as according to him, “Constructive engagements make us better.”

The Service Compact with all Nigerians was established in 2004 to promote citizen satisfaction in service delivery. It is also mandated by the Federal Government to evaluate the performance of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) with the aim of developing and implementing quality service charters.
