Senator reveals how Senate President can be removed amid calls for Akpabio’s impeachment
Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, on Tuesday highlighted the only possible way to impeach Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.

Sani explained that a senator must initiate Akpabio’s impeachment by consulting with colleagues and garnering enough support to push for his removal.
However, he warned that if the move fails, the initiating senator would likely be suspended until the next election.
Posting on X, Sani wrote: “Removing Akpabio is only possible if a Senator consults his colleagues and gets enough votes to initiate an impeachment. If the plot fails, the Senator may go on suspension till the next election. That is it.”
This statement comes amid calls for Akpabio’s impeachment from popular activist Aisha Yesufu following his comment before the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
Yesufu remarked: “Dear Senators. It is time to impeach Godswill Akpabio. It is still one of you that will replace him as Senate President.”
Her call to action was in response to Akpabio’s comment that they would be eating while aggrieved Nigerians took to the streets to protest against President Bola Tinubu.
