Senator Natasha Reports Her Suspension, Case Against Akpabio To UN Inter-Parliamentary Union
The controversy surrounding Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and her suspension from the Senate seems set to stay in the spotlight for a while.
On Tuesday, the suspended Kogi Senator took her case to the international stage.
During the Women in Parliament session at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) meeting at the United Nations in New York, Senator Natasha called for justice and the intervention of global democratic institutions.
She is seeking redress for what she describes as the “unlawful suspension” she faced in the Senate.
Following her speech, she expressed concerns about her safety, claiming there are signs that she could be detained against her will in New York for speaking out on the issue at the global event, possibly due to pressure from powerful figures in Nigeria.
