Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, revealed this information in a Saturday interview with Daily Trust.

Shehu claimed that his stance remained unchanged from last Saturday’s revelation in another national newspaper.

He had previously declared, “If the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been granted study leave supposedly by President Muhammadu Buhari, this is unknown to us. It is also unknown to the President’s secretariat headed by the Chief of Staff.”

According to SaharaReporters, the CBN Governor Emefiele has been given permission by President Buhari to take a study leave, allowing him to depart Nigeria before Bola Tinubu’s inauguration on May 29.

The report was released amid accusations that Emefiele had funded terrorism and engaged in corruption.

The platform further claimed that the Department of State Services (DSS), which had previously attempted to apprehend and prosecute Emefiele in connection with similar accusations, was unhappy with the prospect of the CBN governor eluding prosecution.

The cashless policy and the redesigned Naira were introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in an effort to thwart Emefiele’s bid for the APC’s presidential nomination, according to Tinubu.
