The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it would carry on with moves to reconcile with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his camp despite his endorsement of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State for the 2023 elections.

Our heritage reporter reported that the Rivers governor had endorsed his Lagos counterpart for a second term over the PDP’s governorship candidate, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor.

Wike’s endorsement of Sanwo-Olu is coming amid reports that Adediran is in the camp that is supporting the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and the party’s national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu.

Speaking to journalists on the ongoing campaigns for the elections, the national publicity secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, said the party had a robust mechanism for dealing with issues.

He stated that the utterances of the governor would be subjected to the processes of the party.

“The party will go through that process, but the ultimate goal is to reconcile every member because of the higher calling to rescue this country.

” he said.

According to Debo, reconciliation was not a 100-meter race, and 24 hours in politics is like a lifetime, adding that the reconciliation effort between leaders of the party and Wike’s camp was work in progress.

Our heritage reporter reports that those in Wike’s camp include Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and many others.
