Rivers state of emergency: Soldiers arrest man for filming patrol operation

A state of emergency is now in effect in Rivers State following the arrest of a man by soldiers for recording them during a patrol.

The incident, which has gone viral, was shared in a video on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The state of emergency was recently declared by President Bola Tinubu after receiving “disturbing security reports” about militants vandalizing pipelines, with no action taken by the state governor to address the issue.

Following the declaration of state of emergency, the president appointed a sole administrator to oversee the state’s affairs for a specific period.

In the video, a voice can be heard describing the scene, saying: “See what is happening in Rivers State. Someone was recording, and the person got caught. A person holding a camera was stopped and arrested by soldiers. Soldiers are everywhere in Rivers State.”

The video, showing the moment of the arrest, has sparked widespread discussion online, with many individuals sharing their thoughts in the comment section.

@scopioguru: “I thought u wanted military rulers 😂😂😂 most of the genz that never experienced military regime should use this as experience.”
