The Osun State Government has approved a unified ticketing system for commercial motorcycle and tricycle operators across the state.

The move, DAILY POST learnt, is in a bid to avoid leakages, extortion and multiple ticketing.

It was also gathered that the decision was reached after a meeting between the state government and the leadership of commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as okada riders moderated by the Commissioner for Transportation, Sesan Oyedele, held at the State Secretariat, Abere.

Oyedele while addressing the meeting, noted that “the Ademola Adeleke administration will not fold its arms while people are being extorted by disgruntled elements”.

The commissioner explained that as much as the present administration is determined to boost revenue of the state through the Ministry of Transportation, government will not give room for leakages and extortion.

He stated that the Ademola Adeleke administration will continue to do all within the means of government to ensure that no commercial operator is cheated.

While stressing that the present government will continue to foster unity among the association, he declared that henceforth, “every okada rider will pay N100 per day, while every tricycle operator (Keke marwa) will pay N200 per day without any additional fees”.

Also speaking at the meeting, the chairman of the okada riders association in Osun State, Sikiru Ayobami, thanked the commissioner for his timely intervention on the situation.

Assuring the state government that peace and unity will continue to reign within the association, he stressed that the leadership will not show favouritism to anybody but will be fair to all.
