Rep Member Dumps opposition party For APC
On Thursday, the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) lost one of its members in the House of Representatives to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yusuf Shittu Galambi, who represents Gwaram Federal Constituency in Jigawa State, became the first NNPP member in the House to defect to the ruling APC.
This brings the total number of opposition members in the House who have joined the APC in the past six months to about 11.
Galambi explained his decision to leave the NNPP by citing ongoing crises within the party, which he said had led to legal battles and leadership issues that negatively impacted the party’s operations.
He also mentioned that his constituents had urged him to join the APC due to their dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership.
The NNPP has experienced factionalism, with expelled founding members claiming leadership, while supporters of former Kano Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwakwanso, continue to maintain control over the party.
