Regional Development Minister, Hon. Abubakar Momoh Flags Off Distribution of Palliatives in Ondo State
The Regional Development Commission has flagged off the distribution of palliatives for victims of the 2023 and 2024 flood disaster in communities across the Ondo State.
In Akure, during the flagged off ceremony, the Minister assured all the vulnerable and residence that have been affected by flood disaster would benefit from the palliatives irrespective of their political affiliation.
According to him, the warehouse is loaded with several items to be distributed, which includes bags of rice, bags of beans, mattresses, vegetable oil, noodles, toiletries, tomato paste, mattress, cassava milling machines, sewing and grinding machines, salt, among other household materials.
The Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Emergency Response, Hon. (Prince) Oriade Wellington, in his remark, said that the flood occurred more in 2024 in Ondo State and the victims are still suffering the aftermath of the flood disaster.
Hon. Oriade noted that President Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the Hon Minister, found it necessary to implement the decision to distribute palliative items to communities across Ondo State.
This, he said was in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda to cushion the effects of the flood disaster in the state, considering the effect of the flood diaster occurrence in the state.
He maintained that the Hon. Minister is committed to programmes that would affect the people positively, emphasizing that the ministry is engaging in activities that truly reflect the people’s needs and mandate it was created.
Speaking at the event, The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyibo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, thanked the Minister for the palliatives, noting: “The items will go a long way in supporting those who lost homes and means of livelihoods during the flood.”
The Director Corporate Services, NDDC, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, said: “With the materials will go along way to relief those that have lost properties and livelihood due to the flood, this is another opportunity to rebuild and support our people through these difficult times. He commend the President and Hon Minister for their effort towards bringing relief to the people.”.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs Seun Osamaye, led the market women and women representative to thank the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for coming to the aid of Ondo State People that have been affect by the flood and for fulfilling the Renewed Hope Agenda as always.
