In a dramatic escalation of the #EndBadGovernance protests in Nigeria, the residence of Hon. Nazifi Sani, the federal representative for the Gumel/Maigatari/Sule-Tankarkar/Gagarwa constituency in Jigawa State, has been set ablaze by irate youths.

The protests, which have swept across the nation, are fueled by widespread grievances over economic hardship and a nationwide hunger crisis, which many attribute to poor government policies. The incident at Hon. Sani’s residence occurred as youths expressed their anger and frustration over the misappropriation of funds.

Despite the imposition of curfews in several protest-affected states in northern Nigeria, and repeated calls for calm from authorities, the unrest persists. Protesters, particularly in the northern regions, continue to demand accountability and significant reforms. Many have expressed dissatisfaction with the president’s recent address on August 4, 2024, claiming it failed to address their core demands.

As the #EndBadGovernance movement continues to gain momentum, the Nigerian government faces increasing pressure to respond to the demands of its citizens and implement meaningful changes.
