Banji Alabi Esq. was born on January 30th, 1962 in Owo, Ondo-State to Chief Alabi Osokiya, a foremost Western Nigeria building contractor and Madam Abigail Simisola Alabi, a textile trader and sewing mistress. Both of blessed memory.
Banji started his educational pursuit at Government Primary School, Owo from where he proceeded to Imade College, Owo, for his secondary School education. He attended Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo (now Rufus Giwa Polytechnic) where he bagged OND in Accountancy and later, Yaba college of Technology,Yaba, Lagos for HND in Accountancy.
His passion for defending his people took him to the Lagos State University where he studied to earn a Bachelor of laws degree (LLB) after which he was awarded Barrister at Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus.
Banji joined Chevron Nigeria Ltd., one of the foremost global energy companies in the world on December 10th, 1990. While at Chevron, he had in-house experience in law, finance and taxation practice for 24 years. He advises sponsors, lenders and contractors in major upstream development projects and oil field support services transactions before he opted for early retirement in June 2014 to set up his law practice & real estate development company.

In his younger days, Banji was a fierce boxer. His love for the military; his efforts in establishing the Imade College Army where he was “General Officer Commanding”, GOC; and his dress sense, which had a striking resemblance to that of the Plateau State born popular officer of the Nigerian Army and the then-Commander of the Elites Brigade of Guards during the Gowon era , Major General Joseph Nanven Garba earned him the appellation Joe Garba.
