Prince Ezeala Ferdinand Akano to Chair 2024 Imo ACSPN History Series Conference
The Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), Imo State Chapter, led by Dr. Mrs. Adeline Nkwam-Uwaoma, is poised to host its 2024 History Series Conference under the theme “Down the Memory Lane: The Yesterday That Shapes Our Today.”
Scheduled for Thursday, August 15, 2024, the event will be held at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Imo State University, Owerri. Prince Ezeala Ferdinand Akano, founder of the Prince Ezeala Ferdinand Akano Foundation, will chair the conference.
This announcement was made in a press release signed by Peter Dibia, the Association’s Secretary, and shared with newsmen in the state.
The keynote address will be delivered by Professor Okechi Dominic Azuwike, a distinguished scholar in Environmental, Rural, and Social Geography from the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at Imo State University. Professor Azuwike, a CODESRIA scholar and fellow at the Center for African American Research Studies, is an esteemed public intellectual with a global academic presence.
The conference will also honour several eminent scholars and professionals with awards recognizing their significant contributions to communication and humanity. Prince Akano will receive a special award during the event. The gathering aims to unite scholars, students, and professionals from the field of communication and other disciplines for a day of insightful discussions.
ACSPN Imo State Chapter has expressed its deep appreciation for Prince Akano’s unique contributions and is honored to have him lead the conference.
Other distinguished guests expected to honour the conference include, Professor Chinyere Stella Okunna, the first female Professor in Mass Communication in sub-Saharan Africa, the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Owerri, and Rt. Hon. Eugene Dibiagwu, the Honourable Member representing Ohija/Egbema, Oguta, and Oru West Federal Constituency, among others.
