Singer Portable surrenders to police
Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself in at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development, stating that the Ogun State Police Command has been notified to take custody of the singer.
Portable had been on the run after the Ogun State Police declared him wanted over an alleged attack on three government officials from the state’s Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
The officials were carrying out an enforcement exercise in Ota when they were reportedly assaulted by Portable and a group of men.
Some of his associates were arrested, but he managed to escape and had been avoiding police invitations.
The singer later released a video claiming he was receiving psychiatric treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta.
However, the police dismissed his claim, insisting that he must appear for investigation.
After weeks of evading arrest, Portable finally surrendered to the Lagos police.
Authorities have not yet disclosed whether he will be transferred to Ogun State immediately or if further questioning will take place in Lagos first.
