Police Confirm Arrest of Lil Smart Over Cyberstalking and Defamation of Naira Marley
Social media has been buzzing following revelations by renowned Nollywood producer, Stanley Ontop, regarding the arrest and detention of dancer Lil Smart at an undisclosed location.
In a recent update, the Nigeria Police Force has officially addressed the situation through an Instagram post, confirming Lil Smart’s arrest.
According to the statement, Lil Smart was taken into custody for cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading false information against singer Naira Marley. Authorities further disclosed that he was arrested last month at his residence in Megamound Estate, Ajah, Lagos, where key evidence was recovered.
The police statement reads:
“Following a petition filed by a law firm, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Unit arrested one Idowu Smart Emmanuel for criminal defamation, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading falsehoods against Abdulazeez Adeshina Fashola (popularly known as Naira Marley).”
The investigation also revealed that Lil Smart, using his Instagram handle @lilsmart_, had allegedly fabricated claims of being abducted and assaulted.
“On January 28, 2025, he was apprehended at his residence in Megamound Estate, Ajah, Lagos, and the exhibits linked to the crime were recovered,” the police confirmed.
