Police College graduates 633 constables in Ogun
633 police constables graduated on Thursday from the Police Training College, Iperu, Ogun State, after completing six months of training.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, represented by the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, delivered a charge during the passing-out parade.
The constables were urged to uphold exemplary conduct and contribute to the fight against crime across the country.
According to a statement by the state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the Inspector-General stressed that the recruitment aimed to address manpower shortages in the force.
He noted that the constables had been equipped with foundational police ethics, modern law enforcement principles, and public relations skills.
He said, “The constables have been equipped with fundamental police ethics, norms, practices, and modern law enforcement principles, alongside core values of public relations.”
The Inspector-General also highlighted his commitment to transforming the narrative of the rank and file, stating: “From available information, the recruits are educated policemen who have been carefully selected across the geopolitical zones in Ogun State to address security challenges and serve as exemplary representatives of the police.”
Speaking at the event, the Commandant of the training school, Kolawole Ademilua, stated that the constables had been trained to respect the fundamental human rights of citizens and embrace community-based policing.
Ademilua commended President Bola Tinubu, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd), IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, Frank Mbah, and the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, for supporting the training programme.
He also expressed gratitude to the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, and his management team for their unwavering support during the training period.
Among the dignitaries who attended the ceremony were the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters, AIG Olushola Zubair (retd). Other attendees included heads of sister security agencies, such as the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Security, the Federal Road Safety Corps, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
