Police Arrest Six Suspects In Ekiti Violent Clash

It was learnt that there were violent clash in the area when men of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and commercial motorcycle riders engaged in a violent clash over the death of a motorcycle ticketing officer.

The police in Ekiti State said its has arrested at least six hoodlums, attacking and robbing innocent people at Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

The police confirmed the hoodlums were arrested on Thursday at about 11:20am.

It was learnt that there were violent clash in the area when men of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and commercial motorcycle riders engaged in a violent clash over the death of a motorcycle ticketing officer.

However, while speaking on the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Abutu Sunday told SaharaReporters that the command acted on a distress call from the area.

He added that operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the state police command, were drafted to the area to restore law and order, where six suspects were arrested.

He said; “Today being 09/01/2025 at about 11:20hrs, the Command received a distress call that some hoodlums were attacking and robbing innocent people in Atikankan Area of Ado-Ekiti.

“The operatives of the RRS were deployed to the axis where six of the suspects were arrested. They are currently undergoing investigation. Effort is underway to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.”
